The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) to resolve the situation in Donbas discussed via the video link the repair of the bridge in Stanytsia Luhanska, Darka Olifer, spokesperson of Ukraine’s TCG envoy and second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, said.

“During a Skype conference, the start of repairing the bridge in Stanytsia Luhanska was discussed. (…) The Ukrainian side informed in detail about the preparations for the restoration of the bridge. Preparatory work for the restoration of the bridge has already begun,” Olifer wrote on her Facebook page on Aug. 29.

She said Ukrainian builders are ready to repair the bridge round the clock so that all works would be completed by the end of this fall.

“The Ukrainian side urged the OSCE and Russia to provide appropriate conditions for repair,” Olifer wrote on Facebook on Aug. 29.

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) said that the Ukrainian side had implemented its commitments for mine clearance efforts and its readiness to begin repairing works on the passage.

“At the same time, the OSCE SMM said that illegal armed units of certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions failed to meet their commitments to dismantle fortifications,” she said.

As reported, on August 24, the Ukrainian side began dismantling the fortifications near the destroyed bridge over the Siversky Donets in Stanytsia Luhanska.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Stanytsia Luhanska during his working visit to Luhansk region on July 7 and said that the Ukrainian side wants to restore the destroyed bridge which people use to cross the contact line and which is scheduled to be rebuilt if the truce is observed.
