You're reading: Team of prosecutors on Sheremet murder case changed

The team of prosecutors in charge of procedural guidance in the criminal case on the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet has been changed, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) said.

“The procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is ensured by a team of six prosecutors of the PGO. As to one of the PGO’s prosecutors who worked on this case, on December 19, 2019, the fifth personnel commission decided that he failed to pass the attestation on the results of an interview due to his incompliance with the professional ethics and integrity requirements,” the PGO said in a statement on Dec. 20.

The PGO also said that Kyiv Court of Appeals had to postpone the hearing of an appeal filed by the defense team of one of the suspects in the Sheremet murder case due to “improper informing of prosecutors and a delay in passing the materials of the case from Pechersky District Court of Ukraine.”

Kyiv Court of Appeals was supposed to consider an appeal against the detention of volunteer and children’s physician Yulia Kuzmenko on December 20. However, the sitting was postponed until December 24 due to the absence of the prosecutors.
