An Uzbek citizen located in the Leonardo business center in the center of Kyiv claims that his backpack has a large explosive that will go off if he is killed and the detonator is allegedly tied with a rope to his leg, Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko has said.

“The terrorist claims that there is a large charge of explosives in his backpack, which will detonate if he is killed because a cable is attached to his leg, which is tied to the detonator,” Gerashchenko said on Facebook page on Aug. 3.

Gerashchenko published a photo of the attacker, which shows that he is sitting on a chair in an office space, with his foot on another chair where his backpack is. A bank employee who previously refused to leave the premises is sitting next to the table.

On-air of 112 Ukraine TV channel, Gerashchenko said that law enforcement officers would negotiate with the attacker in order to save lives, but said if the situation deteriorates the criminal would be eliminated.
