You're reading: Transport enterprises of Ukraine reduce passenger traffic by 39.8%

Ukrainian transport companies carried 2.131 billion passengers in January-October, which is 39.8% less than in the same period in 2019, the State Statistics Service has reported.

The passenger turnover of transport enterprises in January-October 2020 amounted to 41.8 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 53.7% less than last year.

According to the State Statistics Service, 57.5 million passengers used rail transport in January-October (including city train traffic), which is 55.9% less than in January-October a year earlier, and 902 million passengers were transported by road (40.1% less).

Air transport reduced passenger traffic by 64%, to 4.3 million people.

In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in the first 10 months of 2020, some 351.6 million passengers used trams (31.9% less compared to January-October 2019), 335.8 million people used subway (43.2% less), and 479.1 million passengers were carried by trolleybuses (38.8% less).

The carriage of passengers by water transport decreased by 59.2% and amounted to around 300,000 people.

According to the State Statistics Service, the figures are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
