You're reading: Ukrainian transport enterprises reduce passenger traffic by 42%

Ukrainian transport companies carried 1.442 billion passengers in January-July, which is 41.7% less than in the same period in 2019, the State Statistics Service has reported.

Passenger turnover of transport enterprises in January-July amounted to 27.2 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 56.2% less than last year.

According to the State Statistics Service, 38.5 million passengers used rail transport in January-July (including city train services), which is 58.2% less than in January-July a year earlier, and 617.9 million passengers transported by road (41.5% less).

Air transport reduced passenger traffic by 69%, to 2.4 million people.

In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in the first half of the year, 237.9 million passengers used trams (a decrease of 33.9%), 214.5 million people travelled by subway (a decrease of 47.8%), and 330.4 million people used trolleybuses (a decrease of 39.7%).

The carriage of passengers by water transport decreased by 75.3% and amounted to about 100,000 people.

According to the State Statistics Service, the figures are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
