Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov will head the headquarters of the European Solidarity Party.
“Ukraine needs a peaceful reboot of power. Our state needs responsible professionals that are able to stop the deterioration of the economy, protect the country and make everyone respect the national interests of a strong and independent Ukraine,” Turchynov said on his Facebook page on June 30.
“I am not interested in a deputy’s seat or a public position, but I have accepted a proposal to head the headquarters, which is being created by the leading Ukrainian oppositional political force European Solidarity, in order to help the process of unification and train high-quality personnel for effective management,” he said.
Turchynov was elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the Popular Front party at the early parliamentary elections on October 26, 2014. From February 22 until November 27, 2014, he chaired the Verkhovna Rada. From February 23 until June 7, 2014, Turchynov was acting president of Ukraine.
