You're reading: Turkish FM to pay a working visit to Lviv on Oct. 7-8

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will pay a working visit to Ukraine (Lviv) on October 7 and 8 at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service on October 6, the heads of Ukrainian and Turkish diplomacy will hold the Ninth Meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group in Lviv. The talks are aimed at preparing for a high-level Strategic Council chaired by the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey in Kyiv in early 2022.

The ministers will give priority attention to the security situation in the Black Sea region and the preparation for this year’s meeting in Ankara of the Quadriga Ukrainian-Turkish – consultations at the level of the heads of the foreign policy and defense departments of Ukraine and Turkey.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies will discuss further interaction between the two countries within the Crimea platform, as well as the state of implementation of agreements, reached the highest political level, and the prospects for Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in key areas.

During the visit, the foreign ministers will open a Ukrainian-Turkish business forum to create new economic opportunities for Ukrainian and Turkish companies.

On October 8, Kuleba and Çavuşoğlu will visit the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where they will take part in the international conference titled “Diplomacy unites: the newest perspectives of joint traditions.”

During their stay in Lviv, the ministers will lay flowers at the burial place of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in Lviv and honor the memory of the Ukrainian soldiers who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The ministers will separately visit the memorial to Turkish soldiers who died during the First World War in the village of Lopushnia, Rohatyn district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
