Over the past day, the Russia-backed separatists have carried out 71 shelling of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in eastern region of Donbas, as a result of which two Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, 11 injured, the press centre of the Ukrainian military has reported.
The separatists breached the truce 28 times in the Mariupol sector, the Ukrainian army operation staff said on June 8. Rocket launchers and 120mm mortars were fired in the vicinity of Chermalyk, and 120mm mortars bombarded the Shyrokyne area. Ukrainian forces came under attack of grenade launchers and small arms near Pavlopil, Maryinka and Vodiane. Ukrainian positions near Krasnohorivka were shelled by 82mm mortars, and 82mm mortars and infantry combat vehicle weapons were used in attacks near Starohnativka. Ukrainian troops were attacked by militants’ grenade launchers and small arms in Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Talakivka, Hnutove, Berezove, Pavlopil and Maryinka after dark.
Twenty-one attacks on Ukrainian army positions were seen in the Donetsk sector. The incidents were mostly observed in the southern and eastern suburbs of Avdiyivka, where 120mm and 82mm mortars, anti-aircraft systems and infantry armaments were used. Army positions in Troyitske came under attack of 120mm and 82mm mortars, and the fighting in Zaitseve, Luhanske and Nevelske employed 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, small arms, and infantry combat vehicle weapons.
The separatists conducted 22 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in the Luhansk sector. Ukrainian positions near Krymske and Novotoshkivske found themselves under intense artillery fire. Mortars shelled army positions in Novo-Oleksandrivka, Triokhizbenka, Popasna, Troyitske, Katerynivka, Novozvanivka and Orekhove, the staff said.
