During the past 24 hours, there have been 13 ceasefire violations in the war zone of Donbas. As a result of enemy shelling, Belyaev Andriy Levontiyovych from Nikopol, born in 1982 was killed, the press center of the Joint Forces operations reported.
In addition, six servicemen were wounded. The soldiers were taken to a medical facility.
Russia-backed militants fired machine guns and grenade launchers at Ukrainian positions. One ceasefire violation was recorded near Luhansk.
One Ukrainian servicemen was wounded. After receiving medical treatment, the soldier was transported to the hospital where he remains in satisfactory condition.
On July 27, 2020, a new ceasefire came into force in Donbas. Although the number of shillings decreased significantly following the truce, now the situation has escalated. During this period more than 40 servicemen were killed.
The growing number of wounded and killed Ukrainian servicemen has been attributed to the recent amassing of Russian troops at the Ukrainian border. According to Western intelligence agencies and European Union leadership, there were over 100,000 Russian troops stationed along Ukraine’s border in March-April 2021.
On April 22, the Russian Defense Minister announced that from April 23, the troops would return to their places of permanent deployment.
But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on July 12 that there has been no major withdrawal of Russian troops from the border.
As of June 18, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna Yevhen Tsymbalyuk stated during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council that no more than 12,000 troops had been actually withdrawn.
