The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) has prepared a request to Canada for international legal assistance in obtaining an audio recording published by the CBC News Canadian broadcaster, which may contain information that the Ukrainian passenger plane of UIA, flight PS 752, was possibly shot down over Iran on purpose.

As reported on the PGO website on Feb. 10, Deputy Prosecutor General Gunduz Mamedov said this. According to him, this will be the fourth request to the Canadian side.

“We hope that Canada will provide Ukraine without undue expectations with the recordings of the negotiations that were released in the media. We look forward to receiving the audio file, because the processes of researching the recording and conducting phonetic examinations can be launched in parallel in Canada and Ukraine. Therefore, the investigation will proceed more quickly to establish the truth and restore justice,” Mamedov said.

The UIA Boeing 737-800 passenger plane, which was supposed to operate flight PS752 on the Tehran-Kyiv route, was shot down near the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran immediately after takeoff early in the morning on Jan. 8, 2020.

There were 167 passengers and nine crew members onboard. They all died. Among the dead there were 11 citizens of Ukraine (including nine crew members), 82 citizens of Iran, 63 citizens of Canada, 10 citizens of Sweden, four citizens of Afghanistan, three citizens of Germany and three citizens of Great Britain.
