Ukraine counts on the support of the Republic of Lithuania in obtaining a Membership Action Plan (MAP) in NATO, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk said.

“If we talk about the readiness of our country to the standards and requirements of NATO, we have practically fulfilled this entire plan and have come a long way. Therefore, the door for Ukraine must remain wide open at all times,” Kondratiuk said at a meeting with the delegation of the group on inter-parliamentary relations with Ukraine, Seimas of the Lithuania Republic headed by its leader Laurynas Kasčiūnas.

According to the parliament’s press service, the Ukrainian deputy chairman thanked the Lithuanian side for the constant support of Ukraine at the international stage, as well as regarding the provision of the NATO Membership Action Plan to Ukraine, and said that the next NATO summit will be held in 2023 in Vilnius.

Kondratiuk also thanked for the creation of a support group for the Crimea platform in the Lithuanian parliament.

In this context, she also recalled the recent elections to the Russian State Duma, including on the territory of Crimea. The deputy chairman said that Ukraine does not recognize these elections.

“We have adopted in the Verkhovna Rada two resolutions on their non-recognition. And we are very worried about the moment that the deputies elected to the Russian Duma on the territory of our Crimea may become deputies from the Russian Duma in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. And we ask you to prevent this situation,” Kondratiuk said.

According to her, a sanctions list has already been created from those who were elected in the territory of the occupied Crimea, who helped at that time in the election commissions, and this sanctions list will be transferred to friendly countries for the possible application of the necessary procedures.
