Channel 5, partly owned by Petro Poroshenko, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, goes to an all-news format. Poroshenko supported the 2004 Orange Revolution that brought Viktor Yushchenko to power. Even though Yushchenko dropped the visa requirement for Europeans and Americans, they have not reciprocated for Ukrainians.
