Ukraine expects two tranches of $1.75 billion each from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2020 and is discussing a further increase in the amount of tranches. However, it is not negotiating on programs to combat coronavirus (COVID-19), Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said.

“The amount of $3.5 billion is expected by the end of the year (this is the subject of discussion, we would like to increase this amount). This is about two tranches – $1.75 billion and $1.75 billion,” he said during an online session of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax and customs policy on Monday.

Marchenko told the MPs that it is necessary to adopt bill No. 2571-d on improvement of the mechanisms for regulating banking activities for further cooperation.

“Ukraine is working on EFF structural program, but we did not apply for a separate credit line. That is, we believe that we can get all the assistance we need under the structural program,” the minister said, commenting on the possibility of making an agreement on the so-called ‘anti-epidemiological’ program.
