You're reading: Ukraine gets record medals haul at World Games

Ukraine took third place in the medal standings at the 2022 World Games in the U.S., Ukrainian Youth and Sports Minister Vadym Hutsayt has reported.

“This is the best result in the history of participation in the World Games – Ukraine took third place in the medal standings! Incredible performances, super efforts of athletes, coaches and the entire Team Ukraine team, which won for the sake of its free and independent country! 45 medals: 16 – gold, 12 – silver and 17 bronze – such an achievement of the Ukrainian team in Birmingham,” he wrote on Facebook.

The sports featured are ones like Baseball – Softball, Fistball, Floorball, Hockey and others, which do not feature at the Olympic Games.

Germany won the most medals followed by the U.S.

The games were held on July 7-17 in Birmingham, Alabama.
