You're reading: Ukraine International Airlines suspends flights to Tehran

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) has confirmed that its Boeing 737-800 plane crashed in Tehran.

“Today, on January 8, 2020, the plane, which was carrying out the PS752 flight from Tehran to Kyiv, disappeared off the radars several minutes after takeoff from Tehran International Airport. The aircraft departed from the airport at 06:10 (Iran time). According to preliminary information, 167 passengers and nine crew members were on board of the plane. The employees of the airline are checking on the exact number of passengers on board,” the airline said in a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday.

The list of passengers will be posted on the UIA’s website as soon as the presence of all of them on board of the plane is confirmed.

“The airline expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the plane crash and will do the utmost to support the relatives and friends of the victims. From today, the UIA has decided to suspend its flights to Tehran for an indefinite time,” reads the statement.
