Ukraine offers Europe additional transit of 55 billion cubic meters of gas under “special conditions,” Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said.

“The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, along with NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy and the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC, shall determine special conditions for the transportation of additional volumes of natural gas from the GTSU to the EU countries in volumes of at least 55 billion cubic meters per year,” he said.

Danilov said the current agreement with Gazprom envisages pumping 40 billion cubic meters of gas through the GTSU to Europe, but the potential of the system allows the transit of much larger volumes, especially during the current crisis period.
