Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva has met at the Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv) an airplane that delivered humanitarian aid from Ukraine to Baku as part of countering the spread of COVID-19.
Humanitarian aid weighing 23 tonnes, in particular, includes: 100,000 medical masks, 5,000 protective suits, as well as non-contact thermometers, disinfectors and other medical equipment, the presidential press service reported.
“Agreements on the provision of the specified humanitarian aid were reached following a telephone conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 26, 2020,” the message reads.
Zhovkva noted that Ukraine is deeply grateful to the Republic of Azerbaijan and personally to President Ilham Aliyev for the humanitarian assistance rendered, which is especially valuable during the difficult time of the fight against the world coronavirus pandemic.
The deputy head of the President’s Office stressed that the step was yet another evidence of the strength of the strategic partnership between Kyiv and Baku.
In addition, on the occasion of International Vyshyvanka Day, Volodymyr and Olena Zelensky handed over traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts to President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva.
