UkrOboronProm, the giant state-run holding company of over 130 defense enterprises, has begun mass production of Atlet armored recovery vehicles, which may significantly enhance the technical capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

“These armored repair and evacuation vehicles are designed to provide technical support for tank units and will significantly enhance their combat readiness,” Poroshenko wrote on Facebook on April 4.

Poroshenko also said that the Atlets would have significant export potential, which could help additionally load the production capacities of the Kharkiv Design Bureau after the execution of the state defense order by UkrOboronProm.

According to UkrOboronProm’s press service, the mass production of Atlet armored recovery vehicles began at Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, which works under the umbrella of Ukroboronprom.

A report posted on the concern’s page on Facebook notes that the vehicle helps conduct evacuation operations and equipment repairs in the field.
