Ukraine continues harvesting grain and leguminous crops, as of October 7, 4.17 million tonnes of corn were harvested (a rise by 2.29 million tonnes in the week from September 30 to October 7) from 786,800 hectares (14% of the planned area), the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food said on the website on October 8.
According to the report, a total of 62.52 million tonnes (a rise by 5.9 million tonnes per week) of major grains, legumes, oilseeds (as well as sugar beet dug) have been harvested this season from a total area of 16.64 million hectares.
According to the ministry, the harvesting of winter wheat, barley, and peas has been completed on the specified date, and the harvesting of these spring crops is underway: 49.3 million tonnes of them have been harvested from 11.2 million hectares.
The leaders in the threshing of grain and leguminous crops were the Odesa region with an indicator of 4.37 million tonnes, as well as Kharkiv (4.06 million tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (4 million tonnes), Mykolaiv (3.71 million tonnes), Zaporizhia (3.28 million tonnes), and Kherson (3.29 million) regions.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy said that as of the indicated date, 8.75 million tonnes of sunflower (a rise by 2.89 million tonnes) were harvested from 3.85 million hectares (59% of the forecast).
Also, Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.4 million tonnes (a rise by 1.18 million tonnes) of sugar beet from 73,100 hectares (32% of the forecast).
The ministry said that a total of 86,400 tonnes (a rise by 7,000 tonnes) of buckwheat were harvested from 65,300 hectares (78% of the forecast), and 160,100 tonnes of millet (a rise by 9,000 tonnes) from 68,900 hectares (88%).
In addition, 1.49 million tonnes of soybeans (a rise by 620,000 tonnes) were harvested from 588,000 hectares (46% of the forecast).
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy marked the end of work on harvesting rapeseed, in which farmers harvested 2.91 million tonnes from an area of 1.01 million hectares.
The ministry said that the average yield of corn as of October 7 was 5.299 tonnes per ha, sunflower – 2.274 tonnes per ha, soybeans – 2.537 tonnes per ha, rape – 2.86 tonnes per ha, sugar beet – 47.07 tonnes per ha, buckwheat – 1.32 tonnes per ha, millet – 2.32 tonnes per ha.
