On August 23, by the initiative of Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska, the Kyiv Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen will be held for the first time in history, the Press Service of the Office of the President reported.
“I look forward to this meeting. I believe that the summit will start a good tradition and a new platform for discussing the current challenges facing our countries,” Olena Zelenska, said.
International cooperation among the first ladies and gentlemen has never been a regular occurrence, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. “Ukraine has taken the initiative and for the first time in history created a common international platform.”
The spouses of world leaders together with Ukrainian and international experts will discuss the important challenges facing the countries of the world in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
These include access to health services and the implementation of mental health programs, the future of the education system, equal opportunities and overcoming discrimination.
Kuleba noted that the initiative would allow the exchange of experience on a regular basis, since spouses play an important role in their countries.
However, the leaders’ spouses of which countries agreed to come to the summit was not mentioned by the Office.
