Surface-to-air missile units under the Air Force of Ukraine’s Armed forces plan more than 150 tactical and HQ staff training exercises and 4,200 unit trainings during 2018, Ukraine’s Air Force has said.
In a press release issued on July 29, on its Facebook page, the Air Force said its air defense units plan to conduct “more than 150 tactical and HQ staff training exercises, as well as to improve the skills of more than 1,000 drivers and mechanics. Moreover, Ukraine’s air defense units will have something to shoot with – weapons,” the statement said.
Work is planned on increasing the efficiency of training of surface-to-air rocket personnel to meet the requirements of today and future potential threats.
The press service said last year almost 120 different command and staff exercises and tactical exercises were conducted involving Ukraine’s air defense units, with 1,300 mock launches of ground-to-air missiles. Live fire exercises involved launches of the BUK ground-to-air missile, as well as the S-300 and S-300PT ground-to-air missiles.
