The Ukrainian Canadian Congress will support projects which benefit Ukraine’s wounded soldiers and war veterans, its president Paul Grod announced on Jan. 9.
Together with the Canada Ukraine Foundation, or CUF, they issued a call for applications for the Defenders of Ukraine Fund for projects to assist Ukrainian soldiers. Since 2014, when Russia started its war against Ukraine, more than 10,000 people have been killed and over 23,000 wounded.
“As Russia continues to wage war on Ukraine, we have a duty to Ukraine’s defenders to provide them with support,” Grod was quoted at the UCC website. “(We) are honored to help these brave men and women, who are an inspiration to us all.”
Applications are due on Feb. 15.

The fund was established by the donors for the UCC’s Gala Reception in honour of Ukraine’s Invictus Team.
Ukraine’s first appearance at the Invictus Games international sporting event that was held in Toronto through Sept. 23-30 turned out to be successful with a total of 14 medals, including eight gold, three silver, and three bronze.
