The Ukrainian Choice-People’s Right public movement, led by Viktor Medvedchuk, who is Ukraine’s special representative to the Trilateral Contact Group’s humanitarian subgroup, has called the events that occurred near the organization’s office in central Kyiv on Monday a ‘physical assault’.

“Today we see the ‘party of war’ switch from threats to action – a physical assault against those who are trying to peacefully settle the conflict in Donbas, ‘sow’ the country back together and end the armed conflict,” the Ukrainian Choice press service said in a statement on Monday evening.

Such acts are threatening “not only public order, but also national security,” it said.

At the same time, law enforcement services “are treating the radicals in an extremely polite fashion and are not stopping them from raiding premises and staging acts of arson in buildings,” the movement said.

“We are calling on the international community to give an appropriate assessment to the attack by radicals on the office of the Ukrainian Choice-People’s Right movement,” it said.

It was reported that on Monday evening protesters had attempted to break into a building in Kyiv where, they thought, the office of Ukrainian Choice-People’s Right leader Medvedchuk is located.
