Kherson’s city court has ruled to arrest the self-proclaimed “ex-deputy chairman of Sevastopol City State Administration” Oleg Kizimenko, who is charged with treason, Press Secretary of Ukraine’s chief prosecutor Larysa Sarhan has said.
“Kherson’s city court represented by investigative judge Yaroslav Musulevsky has arrested ‘ex-deputy head of Sevastopol Administration’ Kizimenko, who was detained in Kramatorsk on charges of treason,” Sarhan wrote on Facebook on Sept. 12.
The press center of the SBU Security Service of Ukraine said Kizimenko was appointed Deputy Mayor of Sevastopol by Russian occupying forces in 2014, after the annexation of Crimea.
According to the SBU, the Ukrainian official shared official documents with representatives of the “aggressor country and contributed to the occupation, in particular by assisting Russian special services and armed groups of the Russian Federation in activities against Ukraine.” In May 2015, he was “dismissed.”
Kizimenko was detained under a Ukrainian arrest warrant when he arrived in Ukrainian-controlled territory on private business. He is facing charges of high treason.
