Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva has said the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will submit a draft pension reform to the Verkhovna Rada by May 16.

“We have to take into account everything, we cannot rush in. There are serious experts, our economists from the Economy Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and also from the IMF working on this matter. By May 16, we should submit a relevant bill to the Verkhovna Rada,” the minister said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia newspaper answering the question about the timeframe for the pension reform.

At the same time, he noted that he regards the pension reform as the key one for the country.

According to the minister, they plan to finance an increase in pensions and carry out the reform itself using the additional receipts to the Pension Fund, retaining its deficit at the current level.

As reported, the next plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada is scheduled for May 16.

Earlier, Reva said that the increase in pensions starting from October 1 will cost an additional Hr 11-12 billion, which is planned to be financed through the increase in the receipts to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
