Since 2017, Ukrainian-language guides have appeared at 37 museums around the world, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova has said.
“Over the last six months alone, in nine countries, we have launched ten projects, when Ukrainian tourists visiting foreign museums can hear their native language and perceive this content in their native language. Also, since 2017, we have introduced 37 Ukrainian-language guides in total, 26 guides alone have been launched over the last year and a half under the auspices of First Lady Olena Zelenska,” Dzhaparova said at the “Ukraine 30. Ukraine’s Image Abroad” forum held in Kyiv on August 3.
In addition, the Deputy Foreign Minister said that the recently adopted strategy of public diplomacy in Ukraine is the first of its kind.
“We set three specific tasks for ourselves for the next five years. First, the world knows more about Ukraine, that is, the level of its recognition and understanding by wide foreign audiences is growing. Second, Ukraine is perceived as a democratic European country that is moving towards full membership in the EU and NATO, despite the external aggression of the Russian Federation. And third, in its foreign policy, Ukraine relies on an effective system of combating harmful narratives in which we live, which are directed against us and in order to discredit Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation, and actively promotes its own identity,” she said.
According to Dzhaparova, the strategy provides for the implementation of all these tasks in seven areas, in particular, cultural, economic, expert, culinary, scientific, educational, sports and digital.
