Ukrainian female referee Kateryna Monzul will referee the Women’s Euro 2022 final between England and Germany at Wembley on Sunday, July 31 at 17:00 gmt, European football governing agency UEFA has announced.

The 41-year-old hails from Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, and is the first referee from Ukraine to take charge of a Women’s Euro final.

An experienced official, Monzul was also the first woman to referee an England men’s national team game when she oversaw the World Cup qualifier between England and Andorra in October 2021.

She had already made history as the first female referee for matches in the Ukrainian men’s Premier League back in 2016.
