A 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a crew member of the Regal Princess, was found dead in Rotterdam, director of the consular service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Pohoreltsev has said.
“On May 10, 2020, a 39-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a crew member of the Regal Princess ship moored in the port, was found dead in Rotterdam (the Kingdom of the Netherlands). The body of the deceased was found in the water behind the ship. According to preliminary information from the local police, the death occurred as a result of suicide,” he told Interfax-Ukraine on May 11.
Pohoreltsev said the body of the deceased was taken to the local morgue, and the relatives of the deceased were notified of the fact of death.
“Ukraine’s embassy maintains contact with the local police, medical institution and takes appropriate measures to organize the transportation of the body of the deceased to Ukraine for burial. The case is under the control of Ukraine’s MFA and embassy in the Netherlands,” he said.
