The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor), together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, is launching an electric transport infrastructure development project that will include the needs of electric transport in the development of the road network in Ukraine.

The EBRD consultant in this project is the international company Atkins (London). The project team involved six experts, including those specializing in e-mobility, financial and transport modeling.

“The project will help adapt the road infrastructure of Ukraine to the global trends of the transport market. Global automakers are massively increasing the share of electric cars, some are planning to completely switch to electric transport by 2030, because its use meets the environmental and energy challenges of the world. Within the Big Construction we have certain projects to develop roadside infrastructure, improve traffic safety and new road navigation, which will be integrated into the e-mobility project,” Head of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy, in turn, noted that the number of electric cars in Ukraine is growing steadily every year.

“For our part, we do our best to support and promote the use of ecological modes of transport – both public electric and electric vehicles. However, to popularize them on a global scale, first of all, it is necessary to create a developed network of charging infrastructure that allows owners of electric cars to move comfortably both in cities and in intercity traffic. Therefore, I am glad to welcome the start of the infrastructure development project, which we are launching together with Ukravtodor and the EBRD,” he stressed.

A meeting on the development of an action plan for Ukravtodor on the development of infrastructure for electric vehicles with the participation of representatives of the EBRD, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Reform Support Team at Ukravtodor was held on April 29.

According to Ukravtodor, the plan will take into account the request of business and users of electric transport, the strategic objectives of the government and the Ministry of Infrastructure for the development of e-mobility and the implementation of the Green Deal goals.
