“On September 1, 2018, the international action ‘Light a candle of remembrance’ was launched to commemorate children of Holodomor. On September 16, Ukrainian communities of Illinois, Michigan and Kansas joined the action,” the Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago posted on Facebook.
As the consulate noted, the events commemorating the 85th anniversary of Holodomor started in Chicago with the memorial service performed by Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret and representatives of Ukrainian clergy in the United States.
