Ukrzaliznytsia carried 9.5 million passengers in long-distance traffic in January-June 2021, which is 22% more than in the same period in 2020 and amounted to almost half of the indicator of the pre-COVID 2019, the press service has reported with reference to acting board chairman Ivan Yuryk.

According to him, Ukrzaliznytsia has already resumed almost 80% of regular and additional trains that ran in the summer of 2019. The company is currently working to further launch trains and reduce travel times for the most popular trips.

The company also notes that in the six months of 2021, some 22 million passengers were transported in suburban traffic, which is 6% more than the same period last year and amounted to 47% of the pre-COVID 2019. In June, thanks to the restoration of commuter routes, the company carried 52% commuter passengers compared to 2019 and 42% more from 2020.

Among the most popular trains of this year, according to Ukrzaliznytsia, are No. 269/270 Odesa-Lysychansk, No. 204/203 Chernihiv-Odesa and No. 185/186 Lviv-Berdiansk. In addition, trains No. 793/794 Kharkiv-Dnipro and No. 796/795 Dnipro-Kharkiv became popular.
