PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia in January-March 2017 received Hr 18.9 billion in revenues, which is 10.3% more than in January-March 2016.

According to the company press service, revenues from transportation amounted to Hr 16.5 billion, which is 20.6% higher than in the first quarter of 2016.

EBITDA for the period amounted to Hr 5.1 billion.

“In the first quarter of 2017 we managed to increase cargo transportation by 5.9%, to 82.7 million tonnes, carriage of passengers by 3.7%, to 46.6 million people. Freight turnover increased by 10.6% and amounted to 48 billion tonne-kilometers, passenger turnover was up by 8%, to 5.87 million passenger-kilometers,” Ukrzaliznytsia head Wojciech Balczun said.

The press service said passenger transportation remains unprofitable: this type of services led to Hr 2.9 billion losses, which compared to the same period in 2016 increased by Hr 400 million.

In the first quarter Ukrzaliznytsia had a positive financial result, however its figure, as well as the general indicator of the company’s expenses are not specified. The report only says that the company’s total expenses decreased by Hr 600 million, or by 3.3%, expenses directly from transportation were down by 14.3%, to Hr 15.4 billion.
