You're reading: US calls on Ukrainian authorities to bring Gandziuk killers to justice

On the anniversary of the attack on Kherson activist Kateryna Gandziuk, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine called on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people demanding justice in this case.

“Today we mark the three-year anniversary of the attack on civil rights and anti-corruption activist Kateryna Gandziuk, who gave her life fighting for a democratic and prosperous Ukraine. We continue to stand with the Ukrainian people in demanding justice for Gandziuk,” the embassy said on Twitter.

As reported, on July 31, 2018 in Kherson, an unknown person doused activist Gandziuk with concentrated sulfuric acid near her house. The victim with burns was taken to a local hospital, but was soon transferred to a medical facility in Kyiv. Handziuk passed away on Nov. 4.
