WASHINGTON – US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Danish Defense Secretary Trine Bramsen met in Brussels to discuss bilateral security relations, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said.

The leaders recognized their common concern over issues affecting transatlantic security, including Russia’s activities in the North Atlantic, Baltic Sea and Ukraine, and agreed to continue to work closely on common priorities around the world, the message reads.

It is noted that the ministers discussed the completion of the military mission in Afghanistan, Denmark’s support for evacuation operations and the continuation of the command of the NATO mission in Iraq.

Kirby said that the two leaders discussed the importance of the NATO alliance as a foundation for transatlantic security and ways to deepen and expand defense cooperation between the United States and Denmark.
