The United States continues to work to ensure that the certification and the Third Energy Package of the European Union are applied to Nord Stream 2, U.S. Department’s Senior Advisor for Energy Security Amos Hochstein said.

At the YES Brainstorming conference in Kyiv on September 11, Hochstein said that the United States continues to oppose Nord Stream 2, and he is very sorry to be here a day after Gazprom or Nord Stream 2 announced the end. But the United States will continue to work with the Germans to make sure the certification process is followed and that the Third Energy Package is being applied to this pipeline to mitigate some of the pipeline’s worst tendencies.

YES Brainstorming is organized by the Yalta European Strategy (YES) and Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
