The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has congratulated Ukraine on joining NASA’s Artemis program to land people on the moon.
“Congratulations to Ukraine! On Nov 12, it became the 9th country to sign the Artemis Accords, on the common principles to govern the civil exploration and use of outer space!” the Embassy’s press service reported on Twitter.
As reported, on November 12, the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) signed an agreement under the NASA Artemis program on the principles of cooperation in civil exploration and the use of the Moon, Mars, comets, and asteroids for peaceful purposes and joined the space agencies of other countries participating in the program.
The SSAU added that the signing of the agreement will also contribute to the discussion of the issue of concluding a Framework Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the U.S. government on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes (the Framework Agreement of March 31, 2008, the lost force on Jan. 22, 2019), expanding cooperation between Ukraine and The United States on other areas of space activities and the resumption of dialogue between states within the framework of the Ukrainian-American working group on research and peaceful uses of outer space, which was established in 2016.
