Enough Howitzer artillery installations were provided to Ukraine for five battalions, according to Washington’s latest military assistance package to Kyiv worth $800 million.

The U.S. Defense Department said on April 21 that 72 installations and 144,000 artillery rounds are being provided in a military assistance package that now amounts to $3.4 billion since Feb. 24, when Kremlin Vladimir Putin tyrant ordered a renewed invasion of the neighboring country.

“And I am very pleased to say, with cautious optimism, that our partners started to understand our needs better,” Mr. Zelenskyy said the previous day in a nightly address, regarding Kyiv’s requests for more heavy weaponry. “[The West] understand what exactly we need. And when exactly we need all this. Not in weeks, not in a month, but immediately.”

More than 121 so-called Ghost war drones are also being provided that the Pentagon says were developed to the specific requests of Kyiv’s military requirements.

This week, NATO-member Norway announced it was sending Ukraine 100 air-defense systems to defend its skies from relentless Russian bombardment.

And Washington said spare parts and equipment were delivered to allow Ukraine to field 20 additional combat aircraft to defend its airspace.

Spain and the Netherlands also announced new deliveries to Ukraine on April 21 as their prime ministers visited Kyiv the same day.
