You're reading: Vakarchuk again vows to announce his plans for politics soon

Rockstar and civil activist Sviatoslav Vakarchuk has said he is going to announce his plans for politics soon.

“I am in, and you will learn more soon,” the Ukrainian Institute in London has quoted him as saying on their Facebook page on Wednesday, January 22.

Vakarchuk made this statement while delivering a lecture at the British Ukrainian Society in London. “I would like to bring as many new faces to Ukrainian politics as possible,” he said.

Vakarchuk said that coming into power is not something that is of interest to him. “What drives me into politics is my disappointment with the current state of Ukrainian politics. Looking at all those people on billboards in Kyiv is unbearable,” the musician said.

At the same time, he said Ukraine needs new political leaders.

Earlier, MPs Mustafa Nayem and Svitlana Zalischuk called on Samopomich party leader Andriy Sadovy, Civic Position leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko, and rockstar and civil activist Sviatoslav Vakarchuk to decide which of the three of them will become the single candidate for the presidency of Ukraine in the elections in March 2019.

As is known, Vakarchuk is included in opinion polls as a potential candidate for the presidency. At the same time, he has long been fleeing from answering questions about his plans in politics, in particular, about the prospects for his participation in the presidential elections that are scheduled for March 31, 2018.
