Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova and EU Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas discussed the completion of the reform of the prosecutor’s office and the start of a competition for holding administrative positions in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), according to the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO).

“From today started accepting documents from candidates, which will last until Feb. 15. We hope that in a few months the commission, as a result of a transparent and open selection, will be able to choose a really worthy head of the SAPO,” Venediktova said.

Maasikas, in turn, supported the election of the head of the SAPO on a transparent basis and based on high international standards, and also noted the high level of organization of the reform of the prosecutor’s office, in particular, the certification of prosecutors.

“We only have to carry out additional certification for those who, for good reason, missed some stages, and we are entering the final straight line of reforms – the creation of district prosecutors and the approval of the regulation on performance evaluation, other important rules,” Venediktova said.

Venediktova also said the selection for positions in the new district prosecutor’s offices will start immediately after their formation.
