Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office has sent an indictment to court against two officials from the main office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) in the region in the case on the Victoria children’s camp, which was closed after an inspection, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office has reported.

“Investigators from the prosecutor’s office completed a pretrial investigation against two officials from the main office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa region. The former head of the Kyiv department of the SESU’s main office in Odesa region and a current inspector are suspected of official negligence that entailed grave consequences (Part 2, Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the agency said on March 19.

The regional prosecutor’s office sent the indictment against these persons to court for consideration on the merits.

In addition, after the inspection at the scene of the tragedy, the court ruled to completely stop the activities of the Victoria children’s camp.

The court is also considering indictments against the director and the former senior tutor of the children’s camp.

As reported, a fire broke out at the Victoria children’s camp in Odesa at around 11.30 p.m. on September 15. The flames fully destroyed a two-store wooden building where 42 children were located at the moment of the fire.

Firefighters found the scorched remains of two children in the debris. One more child was found dead later.
