A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Denmark on cooperation in developing and strengthening Ukraine’s maritime potential.
The signing took place during the official visit of the Danish Minister of Trine Bramsen to Ukraine.

In particular, a project for the construction of multi-purpose vessels is planned within the framework of the Memorandum. Production will be fully localized in Ukraine, and more than 50% of orders will be fulfilled by Ukrainian companies.

Ukraine has great potential for the development of shipbuilding – it is access to the largest navigable rivers in Eastern Europe, and formed port infrastructure, and most importantly – the existing shipbuilding capacity.

The project will be implemented with the Government of Denmark and the Danish Export Credit Agency (EKF). Danish companies will design the vessels according to the customer’s requirements.

Future Ukrainian-Danish vessels will be built at the plant in Ukraine, using best practices in the design of our Danish partners and modern equipment. I hope to develop our cooperation with the Kingdom of Denmark, especially in high-tech projects,

the minister said

Completion of the first MPV80 is expected by 2024. It will be able to perform dozens of functions, including search and rescue operations. The ship will be equipped with advanced developments of high-tech specialized equipment from Danish manufacturers.

On behalf of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure, is launching a program to restore Ukrainian ships and engineering. It entails construction in the next five years of sea and river vessels, cars, planes.
