Xinhua: Ukraine, Turkey sign counter-terrorism pact

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov faces numerous accusations of corruption and other crimes, which he denies. However, he has kept his job and faced no charges since his appointment in February 2014, given that he is arguably the second most powerful person in the country after President Petro Poroshenko.

Ukraine and Turkey on September 4 signed a declaration for greater cooperation to combat terrorism, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The document was signed in Turkey’s capital Ankara by Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and his Turkish counterpart Suleyman Soylu.
