The Cabinet considers Yuriy Vitrenko to be the best candidate for the post of Minister of Energy and hopes for success in the third attempt to vote on his candidacy, head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak said.
“I do not exclude that there will be a third attempt. I hope, I can say with a high degree of probability that the third attempt to vote in the Verkhovna Rada on this issue will be successful,” Yermak said as part of a special edition of the Ukraine with Tigran Martirosian program on the Ukraine 24 channel on Feb. 12 night.
According to Yermak, “now there are many problems in the energy industry, and it needs a strong minister with his own position, who will not depend, which is important, on any financial groups.”
He also said that consultations on possible appointment of Vitrenko showed that “everyone who wanted to get answers to questions about how the energy sector and its branches will develop further, had an opportunity to get answers.”
He also reported that “the Cabinet of Ministers will continue consultations so that the third attempt [on the appointment of Vitrenko to the post of Minister of Energy] succeeds.”
