Ukrainian presidential candidates Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Petro Poroshenko, the incumbent president, won 30.24 percent and 15.95 percent of the vote, respectively, in the first round of the election on March 31, according to official results published by Ukraine’s Central Election Commission (CEC) on April 7.
CEC head Tetiana Slipachuk on April 7 read out a protocol with the results after the CEC finished accepting “corrected” reports from district election commissions.
The document is now approved and signed by all CEC members, she added. After that, all authorized representatives of Ukrainian presidential candidates signed the document, Slipachuk said.
It was also officially announced that the presidential election’s second round is due on April 21, 2019.
The CEC unanimously adopted a resolution on the date of voting.
The CEC also approved the format and color of a ballot for the second round of the presidential election and decided to send the relevant resolution to a special factory that will print ballot papers.
