President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit U.S. President Joe Biden on Aug. 31, a day later than previously planned, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said during a briefing on August 19.
According to Kuleba, the meeting was postponed because its format has been expanded to include a one-on-one meeting between the two presidents.
The changes were agreed upon in advance with the American side during Kuleba’s visit to the U.S. with Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelensky’s office.
However, during Zelensky’s visit, members of the U.S. Congress will be on vacation (Aug. 7 – Sept. 20), which will make it difficult to plan meetings with lawmakers.
The foreign minister also said that Zelensky will visit multiple important events in Washington D.C. and the state of California to attract new U.S. investments.
“The state of California is where the largest IT companies and top space industry technologies are concentrated,” Kuleba said. “This is exactly where Ukraine has its trump cards.”
Zelensky’s office had previously announced that he will talk to Biden about countering Russian aggression, energy security, military cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. and Nord Stream-2.

Biden met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva on June 16.
