You're reading: Zelensky departs to United States to participate in UN General Assembly

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has flown to the United States to participate in the UN General Assembly.

As it became known to Interfax-Ukraine from diplomatic sources, Zelensky’s speech in the General Assembly is scheduled for the second half of Wednesday, Sept. 22.

According to Ukrainian President’s press secretary Serhiy Nykyforov, Zelensky will hold a number of bilateral meetings in the United States, in particular, with leaders of other states, representatives of international organizations, including UN Secretary General António Guterres.

The President of Ukraine is also scheduled to meet with business representatives and investors, as well as with the Ukrainian community in the United States.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, during his participation in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Zelensky is consolidating international support for Ukraine in order to counter Russia’s aggression, raise investment and fight coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, the President of Ukraine will also meet with the Presidents of Poland, Moldova and Georgia.
