Ukraine is taking every opportunity to get its citizens back and is ready to exchange at a concrete time as many captives as possible, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

When commenting on the prisoner exchange and the return home of 20 more Ukrainian citizens on April 16, Zelensky said that Ukraine had insisted that the exchange be carried out as quickly as possible without waiting for the end of the coronavirus quarantine.

“We could have waited until the end of quarantine and done a big exchange then, but we insisted on not waiting. Twenty of our people were confirmed, so we said those 20 people should be released. If two more people are confirmed tomorrow, those two people will be returned, and if there are 100 people the day after tomorrow, those 100 people will be returned,” the presidential press service quoted Zelensky as saying.

The president said that negotiations on the release of Ukrainian citizens incarcerated in Russia are ongoing.

“Ukraine should free all of its citizens,” Zelensky said.
