President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, who is in Ukraine on a three-day visit, the presidential press service said on August 22.

“The President expressed gratitude for Georgia’s consistent and clear position in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and assured of the continued unwavering support for the fraternal Georgian people in defending Georgia’s sovereignty,” the report said.

Volodymyr Zelensky praised the strong support of the friendly country for the Crimea Platform initiative and thanked Irakli Garibashvili for his personal participation in the inaugural summit of this new format for the de-occupation of the peninsula.

The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Georgia noted the high dynamics of the Ukrainian-Georgian dialogue on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries. The parties agreed to hold the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council.

It is reported that the interlocutors paid special attention to the security situation and noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in combating security challenges in the Black Sea region.

“Volodymyr Zelensky and Irakli Garibashvili also discussed deepening cooperation within the Associated Trio format in the context of Ukraine’s and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” the report said.
