Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is most often called the politician of the outgoing 2020, but he also leads the rating of the “losers” of the year, according to a survey conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.
According to a poll released on Monday, 15% of respondents named Zelensky the politician of the year, while 28% named him the loser of the year. Last year, 46% of Ukrainians considered Zelensky the politician of the year.
Respondents mentioned other Ukrainian politicians less often – 9% of Ukrainians named the fifth president (2014-2019), leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko, the politician of the year, and 14% called him a loser. The third place among the most successful politicians/losers of the past year is occupied by head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk (6.9% and 2.5%, respectively), and fourth – leader of the same party Yuriy Boiko (5.4% and 1.3%). Yulia Tymoshenko, ex-prime minister of Ukraine, leader of the Batkivschyna party, closes the top five (5.4% and 2.3%, respectively).
A nationwide survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in cooperation with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) through December 5-13 in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Russia-occupied Crimea and areas of eastern Ukraine. Some 2,004 respondents were interviewed by the method of personal interview. The sampling error does not exceed 3.3%.
