President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is confident that the investigation of the “Ilovaisk tragedy” will lead to results.

“We still have a case on Ilovaisk. We have already discussed this with the prosecutor’s office and we will be investigating it. I think we will have results too,” he said during a press marathon in Kyiv on Oct. 10.

As reported, at the end of August 2014 near Ilovaisk, militants and Russian military units invading Donbas surrounded Ukrainian volunteer battalions, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Armed Forces. Ukrainian soldiers who escaped from the entrapping were shot, resulting in the death and injury, and many Ukrainian soldiers were captured.
